It’s a social coding event where you make a video game with friends + free food!

Don’t game jams sound awesome?

This November, YOU can join the world's largest teen game jam. Yes, you! It doesn’t matter if you have years of experience, or just learned what they are today.

You’ll join thousands of teens making games from all around the world. Don't consider yourself a game dev? No problem - we have tons of workshops for you to make your game!

This is your chance to learn something new, meet new friends, andgo on an incredible adventure together!

Here is how you can join a game jam this November!

(Don't worry, we'll guide you through each step)

What happens in Denver?

Saturday

  1. 9:00 am Doors open & check in Grab a sticker and say hello!
  2. 10:00 am Opening ceremony What a game jam is and how the weekend works.
  3. 10:45 am Beginner workshop Ship your first playable scene in Godot.
  4. 12:30 pm Lunch A variety of options, for dietary restrictions that aren't common, bring your own food.
  5. 5:00 pm Dinner & demos so far Show whatever is on screen, even if it half works.
  6. 7:00 pm Dismissal and pickup Kid's start leaving
  7. 7:30 pm Doors close Head home, sleep, come back tomorrow.

Sunday

  1. 9:00 am Doors open Start coding! You have until 3:45 pm to make the best game you can! You will have snacks availible this entire time
  2. 3:45 pm Submissions due Upload your build to itch.io.
  3. 4:30 pm Play everyone's games Wander the room and try every table.
  4. 6:00 pm Prizes & closing Awards, group photo, and goodbyes.

  • Am I eligible?

    If you’re age 13-18 with a laptop, you’re eligible! No prior experience required.

  • Is this free?

    Yes! Hack Club is a nonprofit helping teens build technical projects at no cost.

  • But I’ve never coded before!

    Perfect! Game jams are designed for beginners. You’ll have workshops, mentors, and teammates to help you every step of the way.

  • What if my parents are concerned?

    We’re here to help! You can see our parent guide here, or they can reach out to us at [email protected] for questions.

  • I still have questions!

  • Can I bring my friends?

    Absolutely! We’re always looking for passionate teens who want to code.

  • Why should I go to a Haven?

    You’ll make an awesome game and learn to code along the way! You will also get to meet other teen coders in Denver and maybe make some new friends.

  • What are the steps to going?

    First, apply through our rsvp form. Then we’ll let you know as soon as we can about where the Game Jam will be.

  • How do we get merch?

    Merch is free at the event, all you have to do is make and ship your project! If you don't ship your project we can't give you merch.

  • I don't want to code alone!

    There will be mentors to help you every step of the way, and you could always bring your friend and team with them!
